About the Author

Roland Beard was born in 1950 in the United States and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Virginia in 1973. After four years in the US Navy he spent over 25 years as a technical trends analyst and writer with the US government. He retired in 2005 to do full-time volunteer Christian work.
Roland became a Christian in the 1970s that led to a daily practice of studying and sometimes teaching the Bible. Christian hospitality in the home and practical helps-oriented ministry functions became a way of life for him and his late wife, Linda. Around 2000 he became an avid amateur observer of the heavens, which opened the subject of biblical creation to him in a new way. It led to an in-depth study of the subject to help a group of home schoolers and local churches. Sky observing sessions were held in the US and overseas as a tool to present the Gospel and re-introduce God as the Creator and Sustainer of the universe.
Roland increasingly turned his attention to the needs of children in developing regions with projects in the US, Uganda, and the Philippines. Needs in a Philippine ministry, which included a federation of Christian schools, his love for children in need, and the Holy Spirit led Roland to develop a study on biblical creation, which further developed into this curriculum. The Bible study, published in 2013, remains a free download from cwm4him.org.
Roland lost is late wife after she endured multiple cancers for over 20 years. He became acquainted with grief but emerged from it stronger and more determined to be of use in the mission field. After some time, he married an old friend, whose desire to be of Christian service and write was like his own.
Roland and his wife, Faylene, currently divide their time between missionary work in Asia and the US. They have a small cabin in West Virginia, where they write and observe the heavens or other parts of His creation. They have many children as well as children of the heart, whom they encourage and exhort to know Jesus Christ.
